Local Law Enforcement
Approximately 50 cars have been smeared with what appears to be human bodily fluid in the German city of Hanau near Frankfurt, according to authorities.
Vehicles, building surfaces and postal boxes were vandalized, in some cases with swastikas, they announced in a official communication.
Law enforcement say they were contacted in the late hours on Wednesday, when a individual observed that a car in the Lamboy district of Hanau had been covered with a reddish substance.
The liquid had been drawn in the shape of a swastika, they stated.
Law enforcement then discovered many other vandalized automobiles and building exteriors in the surrounding area.
These symbols are banned in Germany under legislation prohibiting the visible presentation of Nazi-era symbols.
Law enforcement state early analysis indicate the fluid was likely human blood.
"There is still no clue as to its source; officials are not yet aware of any injuries in connection with the incident," they stated.
Local authorities announced they were trying "to resolve the incident" and have requested to the community for details.
An important political figure stated the incident made him stunned and required to be addressed rapidly.
"This incident affects the center of Hanau and reawakens the pain of the far-right attack half a decade ago," he wrote on social media, recalling the killing of nine people by a assailant focusing on individuals of migrant background in 2020.
