19 of Medvedev's twenty-one championships have been earned on hard courts

A resurgent Medvedev secured his initial trophy for nearly 30 months with victory over opponent Moutet in the competition title decider.

Medvedev, a former number one, has experienced a torrid season, winning just one win at the big events and undergoing a meltdown at the American major.

Medvedev's unpredictability on the professional circuit - and issues with his serving in specific - led to him exiting of the elite rankings and ultimately separating with former coach Gilles Cervara.

Now training with Johansson and his other coach, Medvedev has gradually progressed in the past month - climaxing in a closely contested 7-5 4-6 6-3 victory over challenger Moutet.

This marks Medvedev's maiden trophy since the 2023 Rome Masters and maiden on a hard surface since spring of that year.

The win also means the Russian has secured twenty-one victories at twenty-one various competitions.

"This marks the first occasion I'm at a event with my two daughters at once, so to get a trophy is really nice," commented ranked player Daniil Medvedev.

"This championship is in dedication of my younger daughter her name, because the initial championship I won when my older daughter Alisa was born was for her."

The athlete, the past champion, had been defeated in his last six title deciders, including in that event previously this season.

The player's retrieving play style and regular emotional displays on court had caused observers to wonder if his capacity to play at the top level was finished.

But the 29-year-old has implemented adjustments in recent weeks, making an effort to advance forward and perform assertively, backed up by an enhanced serving game.

The champion came back from a disadvantage in the first set against the challenging opponent, taking four of the last five exchanges to go ahead.

The pair traded breaks in the middle set before Moutet, bidding for his first ATP Tour victory, took control to force a final set.

He defended 4 early-game break points in a tight third set before the Russian broke to that score to close out the victory.

Fittingly, Medvedev secured victory with a rally at the net area, with the Frenchman incapable to handle a shot after a lengthy match.
